What I Am Reading

What I Am Reading 7/25/25

All of a sudden I got super busy, and some things had to go. But not reading.

My daughter turned three! And she had the rockstar party of her dreams. Considering it was right around the Fourth of July, it felt like a good time to stop blogging for a second. I just didn’t realize that I’d need more time than I had planned.

Because after that, my family traveled to North Carolina for a wedding. And then I was a part of a planning committee for a neighborhood event that seemed to be falling apart. So it required way more attention than I had wanted to give it. To fit all of that into my life, I need to take a step back from anything that I could let go.

But now I’m back. And it’s time to get back to reading the way I like to.

Reading Social Media News

I still see a lot of people who ask about how to dip their toe into Reddit marketing. Something to keep in mind is that it does show up in Google search results, so that is always going to factor into what you should do. And of course Google has been volatile lately, especially with the introduction of AI elements. Here’s what you need to know about Reddit marketing now.

To me, LinkedIn marketing has been getting more interesting. So many new elements have been added. And more people are willing to try tactics that have been more traditionally B2C tactics. So whereas LinkedIn and B2B has always seemed a step behind, it has caught up and in some ways, gone beyond what B2C has done. Check out what LinkedIn thinks you need to know about what is going on in B2B marketing on the network.

Reading Books, Books and More Books

Past

Dear Mrs. Bird by AJ Pearce was almost too chipper. There were moments where it could have gone toward something more real. But every time, it chose to stay on the surface and focus on contrived drama instead. Was it more fun to read? Yes. Did I like the main character? Absolutely. I just wanted more from it all. Score: B-

The Listeners by Maggie Stiefvater was interesting. It focused on a World War II story I had never heard, which meant I got to learn something. That is my soft spot for books. And on top of that, it was an easy read. So you’d think I would absolutely love this book, right? Wrong. It was another one that could have been more interesting if it had gone deeper, and it was frustrating every time it took the easy way out. There was a mystical aspect that I kept thinking it would reveal more about. Instead it just left it there. However, I thought the ending was absolutely perfect. I’d recommend it despite being a bit disappointed by it. Score: B

Run for the Hills by Kevin Wilson was a fun read. It focused on siblings getting to know each other on a road trip after being abandoned by their father. Here’s the twist: They may all have the same father, but before this road trip, they never knew each other existed. So they embark on this to learn about their missing father and each other. It’s a lovely, quirky adventure. I found myself laughing constantly. I’d love to go on it again. Score: A-

Present

I feel bad for Don’t Let Him In by Lisa Jewell. I haven’t had a lot of time, so it’s been a lot of starts and stops with this book. Is it because it’s a bad book? Absolutely not. It’s been all me. I meant to have it done by now. It is very late for its return to the library. But there are still pages left to read. And I am disappointed in myself about that. I am loving it. Even though I have an idea of what’s about to happen, I’m enjoying this ride. Maybe I will finish it today.

What are you reading? What books are you looking forward to?
