What I am reading

What I am reading 9/19/25

It’s been a weird and wonderful week. And although it’s been full of library joy, I haven’t been reading as much.

This week started off with a realization that this quick story about my daughter I had told on Threads was not only going viral for me, but it was also being picked up by other accounts. I was the lucky recipient of stories from people who love their library and librarians who have their own tiny library addicts. Let’s just say I happily talked to as many of these people as I humanly could without interfering with my life too much. It was hard to stop myself, because I absolutely loved all of these stories that had just fallen into my lap.

And then I started the process of learning how to make stickers. My partner and I decided to combine our talents to start selling them. This is going to become my baby while also being an outlet for his artwork. We are working through the kinks, but my eye for detail with his creativity seems to be a match made in heaven. At least I think so. He might say something different. I have a way with words and some of the things I say because I know I can… I need a filter.

With that, let’s get to what I’m reading this week.

Reading Social Media News

What has felt like the endless TikTok saga may finally be coming to an end. It was announced this week that the framework of a deal has been reached. So despite the timeline being pushed back yet again, we may be very close to not being annoyed by this story anymore. Or is it just me that’s over it?

And this next article is totally a sales pitch. Even some sales pitches have a ring of truth. PR Daily posted about making education a priority in Q3 and Q4. At this point in marketing, you need to create time to learn or you will fail. It’s one of the best things you can do for your longevity in this career, and yet, none of us feel like we have the time to do it. So despite the sales pitch, it gives some great insight on how to make that time.

Reading Books, Books and More Books

Past

I plain and simple did not understand The Catch by Yrsa Daley-Ward. It left a lot of open questions that it didn’t seem interested in answering. And I was left with the question I had all throughout the book: What is going on? I don’t mind starting a book with that question or even having it throughout reading it. But when I end with no attempt at a resolution, I’m a little annoyed. It was a story that didn’t make sense and didn’t care about that. I’m too logical for that. If you are not at all logical, then this might be the book for you. Score: D+

Present

I am now busy reading a book that I would not have picked up in a million years. It’s Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. I never felt its call, despite constantly seeing it at the bookstore. It just sat there as if screaming, “I am not for you.” And I listened. You should always listen when a book screams something at you. But one of the members of my book club said that he’d really like to read it this month. So I picked up this screaming book with the hope that we can have some sort of peace together. Maybe I’ll even like it? We shall see.

What are you reading? What books are you looking forward to?
