What I am reading

What I am reading 9/12/25

The preschool funk has hit me and hit me hard. But I’m still reading.

At the end of last week, I started feeling exhausted and congested. My daughter started feeling the same, and I had to keep her home from school on Friday. The virus had just hit her too hard. It was starting to get to me as well, but there is no rest for a mom with a sick kid. So I wasn’t able to feel how bad I felt until she was happily back at school on Monday. All I wanted to do was sleep, but I powered through to get all I could done. And then I powered through again to take care of my daughter.

I’m at the tail end of this right now, and I’m hoping my energy comes back in the next day or so. There is just nothing worse than having to give every little bit that I have and then collapsing at the end of the day. I’m ready to do more and read more.

But in the meantime, let’s take a look at what I have been reading.

Reading Social Media News

LinkedIn has a new partnership with CapCut and unsurprisingly, that means that LinkedIn published information about video on the platform. Lots of great information if you are having trouble getting buy-in for your B2B videos.

Are you dipping your toe into GEO? Do you now if any of your efforts are actually working? Search Engine Land covered measuring GEO this week. This area is still in its infancy and will be changing rapidly. So what you’re doing this week may change completely next week. To me, that’s kind of exciting. Let it change so it can get better and so we can get better.

Reading Books, Books and More Books

Past

All the Other Mothers Hate Me by Sarah Harman ended up being an absolute mess. It was easy to read and light. And that’s the best I can say about it. It never had a firm grasp of its timeline and so it just kept feeling shaky throughout. The inconsistencies didn’t stop there. I just felt like I spent more time thinking about how the story was just not working than actually enjoying the book. I can’t believe this made it to anyone’s best book of the year list, but alas, here we are. I’m judging the person who had this on their list so hard right now. Score: D-

Present

I’m having some trouble getting into The Catch by Yrsa Daley-Ward. I don’t know if it’s my fault or the book’s. But I’m on this journey with it anyway. Hopefully I’ll connect with it more than I am right now. I guess we’ll just have to see what happens.

What are you reading? What books are you looking forward to?
