It’s time for a brand new list of some of the best minds in tourism and social media, and we have some great tourism professionals on this list. Yet like all good things, someone’s reign at the top had to come to an end. But that only means we have someone new to congratulate!
Enough of my blabbering. Let’s get to the list:
|Twitter Account||Number of Pros Following||Klout Score|
METHODOLOGY: I took the top ten from the June list and looked up who they followed. I then determined who was followed by six or more of the ten and was also an account possessed by an individual in tourism. I looked up who those accounts followed and then from that determined the 162 top followed accounts by an individual in tourism. From there I looked up Klout scores. The combination of the number of tourism pros following and Klout score gave rank. Due to the closeness of the tourism community on Twitter now, there were a lot of ties, so I had to come up with a deciding factor. To me, the best result came when I broke ties by who had the most tourism professionals following. Those marked with an asterisk (*) did not have a Klout profile, so they received an estimated Klout score based on other influence measuring tools.
As per usual, the list is full of great tourism professionals. Like I said, some of the best minds in social media and tourism are on here, and many of them are more than willing to give you a hand when you need it. Take the time to follow them and get to know them as human beings. They will honestly bring wonderful things into your life beyond social media and tourism.
On another note, I just can’t do this list without mentioning someone that isn’t on it.
Caroline Bean is amazing. Her work has always been inspiring, and she’s always been willing to connect and help others. Most of the tourism professionals on this list can honestly say that they’re only where they are because of Caroline’s smarts and generosity.
But unfortunately for all of us, the time has come for Caroline to move onto another industry. It’s a huge loss for all of us, but I’m pretty sure we won’t truly lose her.
However, it just didn’t feel right to publish this list again without saying this one thing: Thank you, Caroline. We can’t wait to see what you do next.
